Firefox 3 - A Lovely Cake From The IE Team

by Norhafidz on June 25, 2008

Firefox3Mozilla Corporation or often called “MoCo” has just relased their 3rd edition of Firefox. Not today though, but a couple days ago. Yea, I’m late again! Thanks to my slowest-isp-on-earth, Mr. streamyx.

I notice the buzz that they are trying to set a new world record for the most software downloaded in 24 hours! They even have a name for the day the Fox is released, they called it D-Day (Download Day). They are very good at naming something, aren’t they? ;)

The official download day and time was June 17th at 10 a.m. PDT. At this point, the total of firefox hunters are officially 20,009,242 (according to spreadfirefox.com) in numbers. That strength will surely increase in a blink of an eye. I quickly downloaded the firefox3 to test and see what’s new in this edition. All I can say is, this fox is better than the previous one, sorry to IE and Opera enthusiasts.

The Icing on The Cake

Before the launch or the D-Day, the Firefox3 team got a nice little present from their closest contender, guess who and what? A nice little cake from Internet Explorer team. Yea, the IE team do know how to appreciate their contender. Some say that it’s a trap! Here’s the pictures of that cake which I take from Al Billings’s blog, one of the Mozilla’s QA Engineers. Thanks to Rob:

They do know how to make a cake!

Your own personalized Firefox 3 Download Day certificate

You can also get yourselves a certificate from MoCo with your name on it. Though you have to print it yourselves, it’s kinda super-duper sense to have your own personalized certificate from MoCo right? (or I’m just the only one with that feeling?). The certificate is a symbol of gratitude from Mozilla to everyone that helped them spreading the fox to the world. You can get it for free here.

Here’s my beautiful certificate. Thanks Mozilla! ;) :
