How To Be Titillating

How to,Make Money 25 November 2008 | 10 Comments

Titillating is “Once you decide to titillate instead of illuminate . . . you create a climate of expectation that requires a higher and higher level of intensity according to Bill Moyers.

This is not about sex, this post is totally sex-free content. I remember when I did a post about Redtube being the hottest site of 2007, I got a lot of visitors that actually Googled for ‘Redtube’. Somehow, I strongly believe they are looking for adult video instead of Norhafidz. So this time, it is not about any titillating that means “erotic: giving sexual pleasure; sexually arousing”. It is more about how to be “pleasantly and superficially exciting” blogger.

Once you start your own blog, I believe you might realize how important it is to be different. Being able to entertain and captivate your readers are crucial to your readership growth. It’s pretty obvious that no one is going to stay on your blog unless you have what they want or you are Mostly Lisa (she’s amazing) :)

Here’s a list of how you can probably change your way of handling your blog and be a titillating blogger:

Be Unique

Tantalizing others is not an easy job, the very first thing you need to consider is being unique in every aspect of blogging. From your theme to your style of writing. In case you want to do the same like what JC did, you have to make sure you do it better.

Recite What Your Readers Want

This is obviously a must in order to be titillating. No one’s going to stay on a blog that does not have enough information to them. Find out what your readers want and literally deliver it to them.

Keep Your Seriousness Level Low

Don’t be so serious about what you write, come up with some jokes and humor and make your readers laugh. Great speakers have been using it all this time and this technique prove to works. We’re too busy with our yarn and forget some of our readers fall asleep. Wake them up with some good jokes.

Consistency is the Key

Not saying that we need a post for each day, just don’t leave a huge gap of time without a single new post in your blog. A huge gap can be wrongly-interpreted by your visitors. First time visitors might assume that your blog and you are no longer alive and regular visitors might assume you are dead (yea I know, they both have a same assumption). Whatever their ascriptions might be, one thing is for sure, you are not titillating enough to them.

Diversify Your Post

Variation is badly needed in writing an article. I’ve come up with some bloggers that didn’t put much concern about this. Most of them write a long articles and forgot that a post is not just about words. Put a couple of related pictures in your post as to keep your readers’ boredom level low. Brian Clark is one of great examples of blogger that diversify their post. Don’t afraid to try new ideas. You can also embedded videos in your post.

There are indeed many other factors that can turn you to a more titillating blogger. What would you add or take away from the list?

    I do think that everyone blogs should reflect what they are actually. The more you write, the more you can exposed your personal for others to relate.

    Absolutely right. Write as YOU, not how you think people want you to be.

    I think Bill Moyers hit it on the head, titillating is an ever escalating venture. Just take a look at something like the Jerry Springer show. It seems easier and probably more sustainable to create an expertise and to deliver consistently on that.

  5. Norhafidz says:

    @cencurut: True, that’s what I’m thinking too. That is what others should do, not being some other guys.

    @Terry:
    thanks, yea, it happened :)

    @Dennis: yes, that is important, your uniqueness will emerge from there.

    @John:

    It does happen many a times and also it doesn’t surprise me as well. It has been seen many a times that despite some measures being taken, it still happens…
