Google PageRank Updated

by Norhafidz on July 26, 2008

I notice some changes in my blog today. One of them is the alexa rank, though I know it’s just a number, and the other change is I got a new PageRank! I moved to PR3 from PR0. I know the update will be around late July or early August, but this update is quite earlier than expected. I read Matt Cutts blog and he said something like this:

Hey folks, I wanted to let you know that new toolbar PageRank values should become visible over the next few days. I’m expecting that also in the next few days that we’ll be expiring some older penalties on websites. [from Matt Cutts]

Though this blog is expected to rise to PR5, according to freesoftware.co.uk, but PR3 is fine to me. I got another increment of PR on my other blog. Going up from PR0 to PR2. This is the first update for this blog and I am happy to see it moved from nothing to PR3. On the previous update, I lost some PR and I did mention it on this post. So, this time, I’m gonna be more careful towards maintaining those gifts that Google gave me :)

Here’s the screen shot of my new PR:

What Did I Do?

There are no secrets to hide, the only thing to do to improve your PageRank is to get a lot of inbound links from quality sites. That’s what I’ve been doing for the past 3 months since the last Google update. So, things that I did is quite logically getting a lot of links pointing to this blog. Here’s my checklist:

  • Write 100-150 words articles and submit them to article directories
  • Joining more forums and put my link on the signature
  • Exchanging 3-way links, I didn’t do reciprocal
  • Web directories submission
  • Commenting on do follow blogs
  • Write helpful posts for link baiting
  • Social bookmarking, a lot!

Advantages Of PageRank

PageRank is just a sign of ‘how much Google loves you’. It is also a sign that ‘how much money you can make online’. The higher your PageRank, the higher the desire of advertisers to put their links on your site. Usually, you can make a lot of money from PPP (Pay Per Post) if you have a high PageRank.

Because Google assuming that the higher the PageRank of a website, the more quality it be. So, these advertisers are willing to pay for quality links pointing to their site. This will effect the ranking of the advertisers’ site on Google and more likely to be visible to the organic traffic.

For this update, I can say that Google has been generous to me :) How about your sites? Does Google been generous to you too?
